Detergent is any substance that has properties of dissolving another substance by incorporating the dissolved substance into the initial detergent substance. Detergents must have wetting capacity and power to remove dirt from surfaces, as well as to keep residues in suspension. They should also have good rinsing properties so that dirt and detergent residues are easily removed from the equipment.
